Land Acknowledgement

The Manitoba Writers’ Guild acknowledges, honors, and respects that our place of business and gathering is situated on ancestral lands in the heart of Treaty 1 territory, traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Ojibwe, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation.

This acknowledgement is important, yet only a small part of cultivating strong relationships with Indigenous Communities. In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, as well as fellowship within the literary arts, the Guild is committed in the present day to deepening our associations with the descendants of those who once lived and thrived on these lands.
